Job: Goodwill Sustainability Director

Title:  Director Sustainability
Wage 25.00 – 30.00 DOE
M-F 8-5pm 40 hours
 
Critical Skills:  B.A. in business or related field.  4 years experience at a management level, preferred in field of solid waste or recycling.  Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.  Prefer experience working with a diverse population.  Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.  Creative and flexible problem solving; desire to work with employment and training services consumers, employees and the public; team oriented; appropriate grooming and dressing.

Job Description: Directs, supervises and coordinates staff activities to ensure divisional goals are met. Provides leadership, guidance and professional development for staff. Manages aftermarket and solid waste operations, including the receiving, processing and marketing of all salvage and recyclables. Ensures accurate tracking of materials and maintenance of records of incoming and outgoing materials. Manages logistics, equipment specifications, and environmental compliance as required. Oversees the Goodwill Outlet including the receiving and processing of goods from retail stores and delivery of excellent customer service. Ensures adherence to GW retail procedures. Builds strong business relationships with recycling vendors, community professionals, outside agencies and other business contacts in addition to internal stakeholders. Recruits, selects, develops, evaluates and counsels his/her employees. Terminates employees in accordance with Goodwill policies. Provides leadership, guidance and professional development to staff. Models the expected behavior of the staff. Assists VP in planning and developing new business opportunities and in consultations with other organizations. Assists with annual budget preparation; coordinates budget for recycling division . Maintains financial viability. Serve on various community committees and boards while representing Goodwill in a positive manner. Network with peers via GII, local/national professional groups. Continue to make GWCT a competitive benchmark nationally. Works collaboratively with all departments while maintaining a continuous improvement agenda. Ensures departmental equity and compliance with all company policies and procedures. Demonstrates ethics and complies with Corporate Compliance Program. Meets Mandatory Yearly Training Hours requirement for this position.
