West Cave Preserve Open 7 Days a Week

From a Westcave Preserve email alert…

In every walk in nature one receives far more than he seeks. – John Muir

How could we possibly enhance the "crown jewel of the Hill Country?" How about by making its wonder and joy accessible to the public from sunrise to sunset seven days a week!

Late in 2008 we acquired the "rim around the canyon" – an additional 45 acres surrounding Westcave's canyon, cave and waterfall. After much hard work and planning, we are now prepared to integrate this land into our programming.

We plan to develop a new one-mile, self-guided loop trail on the rim property for visitors to use seven days a week, and to build a wildlife viewing station where visitors can stop to observe one the many bird species who call the Preserve home, or a passing porcupine, white tail deer, or jack rabbit. We have recently received a generous $50,000 grant to aid this process, but we need YOU – our members and friends of the Westcave community – to help us raise the remaining $87,000 it will take for us to complete our vision.

Westcave is completely funded through private grants and contributions from people like you. We both need and appreciate your continued support. Join us one day soon for a weekend public tour on any Saturday or Sunday at 10AM, noon, 2PM and 4PM. And, if you're interested, call ahead and we'll find a time to show you our new property.

Please make a gift today to help us complete the Rim trails and wildlife viewing blinds here at Westcave Preserve.  By making a gift of $75 or more you will receive a family membership and a FREE Westcave calendar!
