TRASH! — a celebration of Austin’s most unsung heroes — (a HUGE SUCCESS)

I’ve known Allison Orr since 7th grade. You should know her too. As a choreographer Allison has achieved quite a lot over the last 15 years. Her pioneering dance works have led to coverage on CNN, gondoliering in Italy, a cover story at the Statesman last week, and perhaps most famously — an Elvis collaboration with Mayor Will Wynn.

This Saturday Allison does it again — celebrating the real-life people who provide one of our community’s most valued and unsung services: sanitation & waste pick-up.

TRASH!, Allison’s newest and biggest project to date, is an evening of dance performed by the employees and machinery of Austin’s Solid Waste Service Department. The show is free, the people are real, the experience unrepeatable.

What to expect: Sanitation workers in full regalia with big trucks and flashy lights, choreographed to showcase the ballet and physicality of their work. This’ll be a fun and Austin-unique evening, months in the making — one time only.
