Reminder – next 2 Wed. Evenings – Fall [Permaculture] Talks – All Invited

Friends, Foodies, Gardeners, Greenies, Sustainers, Permaculture Folks,

Last Wed. over 20 like-minded, convivial folks gathered at Habitat Suites to hear about Texology – and left with more info and a better understanding of our C-TX climate, weather, growing seasons, soils, water, plants…and they know about Austin as the beach, the mountains, the main point of contact for plate tectonics, the mighty TX rivers and much more. Thanks, you all, for attending – a grand, animated audience.

This Wed (Nov. 4), we are at it again – 7:00 -8:30, with discussion ’til 9 PM – at Habitat Suites Hotel (just north of Highland Mall, bet. Sailboat Ctr. & Sugars). This week it’s “Permaculture & Alternate Finance, Banking, Commerce” – aka, “Re-Localization”.or “How Lo[cal] Can You go?” with Dick Pierce. It’s about what positive, joyous, bountiful steps we might take in the light of all the gloom (Peak Oil, Globalization, World Bank, WTO, Multi-National Corporations, Descent Economy, consumerism, etc.). And we’ll focus on solutions that you and I and our neighbors can do – the positive stuff. If you’ve been to Wed. night talks before, you know they are great – if you have not been yet, please come on over and find out.

Next Wed., Nov11, is the last of this Fall Series of [Permaculture] Talks. It’s titled “Other Stories to Be In”, a title/concept taken from Daniel Quinn’s notion in “Beyond Civilization” that we all need to look for other ways of doing things, thinking, living life, working with Nature, interacting with others – if we are to pull out of the free-fall our civilization and life ways are in. Quinn focuses on the problems – we’ll focus on what we might think about and do – the positive/solution side. There may not be all the answers but there is a lot of homework. Please come and bring a friend or two.

Thanks to Natalie and Habitat Suites Hotel, Austin’s Green/Permaculture Hotel, for hosting us for these free talks. Look around at all the green features and the verdant veggie garden that is tucked beautifully in among the corporate landscaping.
