About Microbial Earth:

Specialties

We specialize in the use of microbes to create a better environment.  We have products to build up your soil’s nutrient density and water holding capacity.  We have a variety of composting products to help you break down organic material faster, and more efficiently, and with less odors/mess.  We also have a line of probiotics to reduce odors in your home, business, or industrial facility.  The same microbes are excellent for reducing and breaking down organic matter such as grease, molds, mildew, and organic residues.

History

Established in 2008

Patrick Van Haren and Allan Dyer started in 2008 with a mission to improve the soil’s of central Texas through the use of microbes.  Our journey has led us to master the production of high quality compost (humifed) and the incubation of microbes.  This understanding is central to the restoration of the soil and our understanding of the local ecology.  We have learned to extend this knowledge to zero-waste lifestyles and compost systems for indoor and outdoor composting systems.

Meet the Business Owner: Patrick V.

I have a degree in Agricultural Business and Economics from Canada.  I was fortunate to attend a 2 year federal leadership development program with Agriculture Canada funding.  I also completed a 1 year MBA in entrepreneurship from Babson College with a focus on disruptive innovations.

My work experience involves growing up on an advanced animal breeding (conventional technologies only), our family business.  I was lucky to work for 5 years in Europe in business development within agriculture.  I returned to Canada for 5 years to help develop the family business, which we ultimately exited in 2000.  I have since worked in solar thermal energy, biomass energy and project finance.

Microbial Earth is a key aspect of our vision to incorporate grazing systems and bioenergy to restore the central Texas ecosystem services such as the production of food, feed, fiber, fuel, fertilizer, fresh water and fresh air.
