Bruce Melton will be presenting new and dramatic information on sea level rise, plus showing some of his fabulous photography from King Tide dune erosion on South Padre Island. Padre is still a beautiful place and will likely be for years to come, but disintegration and easy access may come rather rapidly. The beach itself is rapidly disappearing and in some places the dunes have already been eroded away. — Teaser: NOAA’s new Special Report 092 from July 2020 says 2019 saw 1.5 Inches or 38 mm of sea level rise across all of NOAA’s lower 48 US tide gauges. This was verified with the principal author as not being a typo because the average long term sea level rise is 3.5 mm per year globally. Yes, Antarctic Ice Sheet collapse has truly begun. The previous US one-year rise record was 13 mm.

We’ve formed Action Teams on Austin Energy, the Permian Pipeline, Rio Grande Valley Support, Carbon Fee & Dividend, People Power, Data Entry, and Presentations and more. We have identified additional action teams we’d like to form, including Transportation, Climate Justice, Partner Organizations, School Education, and Social Media. Whether you have only minutes a month or hours a day, join us to build a mass movement to stop climate change. Or join another group fighting this vital cause.
