[Breakfast] Friday, May 8th from 7:30am to 9:30am Movability Austin is hosting its monthly Pop-Up Commuter Breakfast at St. David's Episcopal Church. Anyone walking, biking, carpooling, or taking public transportation to work will be rewarded with a free breakfast. Design Build Live's Cob Oven Workshop begins on Saturday.[Workshop] Saturday, May 9th from 9:30am to 4pm

Design~Build~Live is hosting the first class in its 2-Day Cob Oven Workshop series. Students will get muddy learning how to build a functional oven, bench, and prep area from readily available materials. The workshop continues on Saturday, May 16th and registration is required. More info>>
 


[Eco Fair] Saturday, May 9th from 1pm to 4pm the Wells Branch Municipal Utility District is hosting an Eco Fair at the Wells Branch Rec Center on Shoreline Drive. There will be vendor demos,hands-on activities for both adults and kids, guest speakers, healthy food samples, raffle prizes and a kids' coloring contest. Attendees will be schooled in gardening tips, water conservation, recycling, and renewable energy. Plus, the entire event is free and open to the public. More info>>
 


TreeHouse is hosting the NNDC on Saturday.[Workshop] Saturday, May 9th from 1pm to 4pm the Natural Neighborhoods Development Coalition (NNDC) is teaching a workshop about natural home and community building at TreeHouse on South Lamar. Tour Logro Farms this Saturday with the Austin Materials Marketplace.[Farm Tour] Saturday, May 9th at 2:30pm Logro Farmsis opening itself up for a tour. Located right next door to Jester King Brewery and Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza, Logro Farms is a closed-loopfarming operation. It takes waste from Jester King to fertilize food that it grows for Stanley's Pizza. The tour is free and open to the public and is being hosted by the Austin Materials Marketplace, an online platform that facilitates business-to-business material reuse in Austin. More info>>

 

[Bouldering] Sunday, May 10th at 10am the Sierra Club is hosting a bouldering trip for beginner and intermediate climbers at Bull Creek District Park. A crash pad and chalk will be provided, but climbers will have to bring along their own shoes. Kids and dogs are welcome as well. More info>>

Topics of discussion will include what can be learned from Georgetown, an update on Austin's Climate Protection Plan, and how the Interfaith ECO-Network of Georgetown influenced public policy in their city. The Sustainable Food Center is hosting a class on water conservation in the garden on Wednesday.

 

[Garden Workshop] Wednesday, May 13th from 6pm to 7:30pm the Sustainable Food Center is hosting a class on water conservation in the garden. Students will learn the appropriate plant choice and watering techniques for Austin's hot, dry climate, as well as how to use olla pots, wicking beds, and drip irrigation. Plus, everyone will go home with a package of drought-tolerant seeds. [Fundraising Dinner] Thursday, May 14th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm the Sustainable Food Center is holding its annual fundraising farm-to-plate dinner celebration at the Barr Mansion. Over 25 acclaimed Austin chefs will be cooking food, to be accompanied by an abundance of handmade cocktails and local microbrews to try. The money raised will go directly toward supporting the Sustainable Food Center's programs, which empower families to feed themselves for a lifetime and support environmental, cultural, and economic health.
