[Environmental Justice] Friday, June 26th from 6:30pm to 8pm PODER (People Organized in Defense of Earth and her Resources) is hosting a potluck and presentation on poverty, pollution, and gentrification at their offices on East Caesar Chavez Street. Guest speakers will talk about environmental justice, affordability, and organizing an equitable transition away from fossil fuels. More info>>
 


Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is on Saturday.[Kid-Friendly] Saturday, June 27th at 9:30am Bicycle Sport Shop is hosting "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day" at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. This free event is a great opportunity for parents to take their children mountain biking, instilling in them a love of riding and the outdoors. All participants should RSVP ahead of time and plan on arriving a bit early on Saturday to sign a waiver. More info>>

There is a free composting class on Saturday in Republic Square Park.[Composting Class] Saturday, June 

27th from 9:30am to 10:30am Austin Resource Recovery is hosting a free composting class at the Sustainable Food Center Farmers Market in Republic Square Park. The class will teach students how to turn food scraps and lawn clippings into nutrient-rich fertilizer for their home gardens, just by composting! Plus, it's all part of the city's Home Composting Rebate Program, so eligible Austinites will earn a $75 rebate to buy a compost bin of their very own after completing the class. More info>>

[Yoga] Saturday, June 27th from 11am to noon the Austin Parks Foundation is hosting a free yoga class under the shade trees at Little Stacy Park. The class is fun, revitalizing, and appropriate for all levels including hatha basics and elements of vinysasa. More info>>

 


[Festival] Sunday, June 28th from 10am to 2pm the Colorado River Alliance is celebrating the 2015 Family Water Festival at Fiesta Gardens. The entire event is held in honor of the Texas Colorado River and will feature food trucks, live music, and fun educational activities. The festival coincides with the Colorado River Ramble, a stand up paddle board, canoe, and kayak race around Lady Bird Lake. The race begins at 9am and people of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate. More info>>
