[Food Talk] Monday, July 6th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm the Food + Tech Austin Meetup group is hosting a discussion on the bug industry at the Capital Factory. A team of panelists will talk about eating bugs for food and the challenges of starting and running a bug business. [Beekeeping] Monday, July 6th from 7pm to 9pm the Travis County Beekeepers Association is having their monthly meeting at the Zilker Botanical Gardens. A special guest speaker will be discussing bee nutrition and summer dearth. The meeting is free, open to the public, and designed to educate both beekeepers and the public about honeybees. More info>>

Travis County is hosting a"Lunch & Learn" discussion at the Travis County Office Building on Lavaca Street. Professor Dumpster will be there, speaking about his experiences living inside a 33 square foot dumpster. Bring your lunch and be prepared to learn something new. More info>>

[Waterfront Talk]Wednesday, July 8th at 6:30pm the South Central Waterfront Initiative is hosting a talk on the future of the Lady Bird Lake waterfront entitled, "Designing Urban Landscapes for People and Nature." A guest speaker will discuss the benefits of green infrastructure and even share an innovative funding model for building and maintaining that green infrastructure. [Kid-Friendly] July from 6pm to 9pm Nature Nights continue at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Nature Nights are being held every Thursday evening this summer, are totally free, and full of family fun. This Thursday's theme is, "Springs, Streams, and Pond Ecology," and the evening's list of activities includes a scavenger hunt, puppet show, and a presentation from Texas Parks and Wildlife. More info>>

 


[Movie] July from 8:45pm to 10:30pm the Austin Parks Foundation is hosting a free outdoor screening of the documentary, "180 Degrees South," at Wooldridge Square Park. The film follows adventurer Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia, Chile.
