Austin's big fireworks display and concert returns to Auditorium Shores this year. The concert begins at 8:30pm in front of the Long Center for the Performing Arts, and fireworks begin at 9:30pmMore info>>

Admission is free, but parking at this event is always a nightmare, so consider taking public transportation or riding your bike. Capital Metro's trip planner can help you find the best route.

* A friendly reminder – It is illegal to set off personal fireworks within Austin city limits. Each year, there are hundreds of brush and grass fires set off across the state by fireworks, so the Austin Fire Department recommends that you leave the fireworks display to the professionals *

Celebrate the 4th of July the old fashioned way.

 

Celebrate this Fourth of July outdoors, at a Texas State Park. Several nearby parks are putting on special activities just for the occasion:

  • Enchanted RockState Natural Area –4th of July Sunrise "Run with the Ranger." Starting at 6:30am park rangers will be leading a 4.5 mile trail run, pointing out interesting facts about the park as they go along. More info>>

The 1% to Conserve Galveston Island campaign has officially launched.

 

If you're planning on traveling to the Texas coast for the holiday weekend, be on the lookout for the 1% to Conserve Galveston Island campaign. This new program allows customers of several Galveston-area businesses to donate 1 percent of their purchase to Galveston Island conservation efforts. The money will also be used to build public access amenities so that more people can enjoy Galveston's natural treasures. More info>>
