Austin Energy’s General Manager Retiring

The Statesman reports today that Roger Duncan, Austin Energy’s General Manager, has announced his retirement.

According to the article, Duncan has been a powerful force for conservation over the years, working on such initiatives as the Green Building program, Green Choice, and Austin’s Climate Protection Plan.

The Statesman mentions that City Manager Marc Ott will be looking for Duncan’s replacement, to be found by the time Duncan steps down in March.

The City’s Communication and Public Information office tells me that Austin Energy’s GM is appointed by the City Manager, but that the City has not yet determined the exact hiring process, or when and how the public will be involved.
