Voice Your Opinion: To Condo or not to Condo?

This Thursday, August 27, the City Council will hear Houston developer Grayco's petition to build condos as high as 90-feet along the beautiful parkland beside Lady Bird Lake. That's half-again higher than what the Waterfront Overlay calls for. Please tell City Council you care more about the vistas and open space around Lady Bird Lake than more irresponsible development. Call or email the City Council now and tell them to reject Grayco's petition. Follow this link to contact the Council through the new Save Town Lake website. Use the following language or write your own message about how important Lady Bird Lake is to Austin and to you:

"Dear Council Member,

Please reject Grayco's application to build their highrises above the maximum height allowed by the Waterfront Overlay Ordinance. The scenic vistas and open space that give us such a beautiful green oasis around Lady Bird Lake are vital to preserving Austin's unique character. Please require Grayco to abide by the Waterfront Overlay and limit its buildings to sixty feet in height.

Thank you,
[Your name and address]"

If you can, please also join us Thursday at City Hall to tell City Council in person. Zoning cases usually start at 4:00 pm and Grayco's is last on the agenda. Please come at 4:00 pm at the earliest. When you get to City Hall, please sign in at the kiosk and write your opposition to agenda item #83. Also please consider a tax-deductible donation to Save Town Lake. Through your help, we can tell the people of Austin about the need to save this vital piece of what makes Austin special.

Thank you for your support and see you on Thursday!
