Join us and the Austin Astronomical Society on May 15th as we observe a total lunar eclipse in Northwest District Park. A total lunar eclipse occurs when Earth’s shadow blocks the sun’s light, which otherwise would reflect off the moon, resulting in the moon appearing bright red! All ages are welcome but please be mindful that the equipment is fragile, so children and pets must be watched closely. Please leave pets at home.

Feel free to bring flashlights, as it will be dark. Red lights are preferred to protect your eyes’ adaptation to the dark, but we will also have red cellophane that can be put on white lights.

Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are weather appropriate.

You can RSVP here.

After you register, please keep an eye on your inbox for last-minute updates. Successful viewing is dependent on a clear sky, so we will send out updates by email if the weather does not seem conducive to this activity.
