29 Apr City Composting Rebates Available!
The City of Austin Solid Waste Services Green30 Challenge program is encouraging people to downsize their garbage carts and start composting. They will rebate 75% off up to $75 of any compost system purchased between April 22 and August 15, 2010 if the customer: 1. Has a 30-gallon garbage cart (the smallest) or downsizes to 30 gallons (call 3-1-1 to arrange);
2. Completes a compost class (see austinrecycles.com for class schedule) at selected farmer’s market events, and
3. Submits the receipt for an eligible compost system along with the appropriate rebate application form http://www.microbialearth.com/sites/default/files/images/green30_composting_rebate_app.pdf
Strategic Information for Austin residents:
a. There is a maximum of $75,000 for this program, or a maximum of 1,000 compost systems. This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity. If there is a strong response, the program may be extended.
b. If you are a SWS customer that already has a 30-gallon garbage cart, you just have to take a class and submit your receipt with the rebate application.
To sign up for a class, please e-mail composting@austinrecycles.com with the names of attendees and the class you’d like to attend.
