Your Guide to A Green Halloween

Compost Pumpkin

What's Inside...

Happy Halloween! That means lots of tasty treats, scary costumes, and of course pumpkins. But what happens with all of those pumpkins on November 1st, when the trick-or-treating is over? Often times, they just end up in the trash.

The Compost Coalition is hoping to change that. They’re encouraging Austinites to try and compost as many pumpkins as possible. Here’s how you can help:

  • If you have your own home compost pile, offer to compost some of your neighbors’ pumpkins or send an email to info@CompostCoalition.com.
  • If you have a pumpkin and don’t have a compost pile for proper disposal, send an email to info@CompostCoalition.com and they might be able to connect with you the perfect one!

And, if you’re looking for more ways to celebrate an eco-friendly Halloween, be sure to check out the latest blog from Austin Resource Recovery, “Add Green to Halloween.”
