Sponsored Post – from Austin Resource Recovery
We’ve all seen it. That egregious piece of trash poking out of the neighbor’s recycling can, or that big pile of cardboard boxes tossed directly into the dumpster and then sent on to the landfill. It’s understandable why these mistakes happen. Recycling can be confusing, especially for those that have not grown up with the practice. But as a community, if we’re ever going to reach our waste reduction goals, we need to work together to prevent these mistakes from happening in the future. That’s where block leaders come in.
Austin Resource Recovery is currently looking for Zero Waste Block Leaders to help answer recycling, composting, and waste questions in neighborhoods throughout the city. Block leaders are not the recycling police. They are meant to be a resource, to help neighbors collectively work toward reducing Austin’s waste. The next Zero Waste Block Leader orientation will be held on Saturday, July 15th from 1pm to 3pm at the Old Quarry Branch Library. More info>>
