We’re right there with with you. Which is why we’d love to invite you to join the uplifting and supportive community we’re building and become an official member of The Austin Common.
When you become a member of The Austin Common, you’ll gain access to a private Slack Workspace and Facebook group, where you’ll be able to:
Now that Stay At Home orders are in effect, we're all hungry for a little human connection. As a member of The Austin Common, you'll gain access to an uplifting community of neighbors to help you get through these trying times with a sense of purpose (and maybe even a smile.)
Since the world is in the throws of the COVID-19 crisis, we're going to focus the conversation around something postive - building community resiliency, with a special focus on topics like food, equity, housing and homelessness, climate change, democracy, and lessons learned from history/ other times of crisis
Share your own unique skills of resilience and sustainability - gardening, creative reuse, harvesting and saving seeds... Whatever your secret talent is, we want to know about it!
Each week, Austin Common staff will be conducting video interviews with community activists, historians, and policy makers who have insights to share on how we can get through this crisis now and become more resilient in the future. Tune in live and ask your own questions or watch the recording later.
At The Austin Common, we believe that everyone has something positive to share with their local community. No one is too young, too old, or too inexperienced to make a difference. Austin needs your unique knowledge, experience, and perspective. We're just here to help you get it out there!
Sometimes the best way to distract yourself from the craziness of the world is to help others. That's why we'll be giving members regular action items you can take from home to help yourself and your fellow Austinites through these uncertain times
We had originally planned on offering access to our Austin Common membership clubs for $120/ a year, but given the urgent need for this kind of digital community, we decided to make our membership fee voluntary for anyone who wants to join during these Stay Home, Work Safe restrictions.
However, if you are able to contribute financially, we would really appreciate it if you do. The reality is that like so many others, we have been severely impacted by COVID-19 and are struggling to survive.
PS – Want to contribute something, but can’t quite swing $120 right now? You can also break that into monthly $10 payments or make a one-time contribution in the dollar amount of your choice.
At The Austin Common, our goal is to do more than just share news and information. We’re here to build community, standing side-by-side with all the amazing people who make this city so great. Because the truth is, our biggest barrier to making a real difference in this world isn’t simply a lack of information… It’s a lack of community. There’s only so much we can achieve if we go at it alone. Together, we achieve so much more (and have a lot more fun while we’re doing it.)
