Leander ISD in Upper 10% for Energy Efficiency

Yesterday the Leander Independent School District announced it had received 31 ENERGY STAR awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, one award for each of its eligible buildings. The average score of the district on the required certification placed it in the top 10% of schools in the nation.

To qualify for an ENERGY STAR award, each building had to be certified as among the lowest quartile of buildings nationwide for energy use per square foot.

The district, which serves Cedar Park and Leander, started its energy efficiency program in 2001. Since that time it has saved more than $10 million. If you pay property taxes in the Leander ISD area, this initiative is saving you money!
