Campus Director

The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts trains culinary professionals in the theory and practice of variety of plant-based cooking styles including macrobiotic, ayurvedic, vegetarian, vegan and raw & living foods. We emphasize the preparation of locally-available, seasonal natural foods to delight the senses and promote good health. We position culinary professionals to be meaningful contributors to the vital transformation of our healthcare and food industries. Our culinary students emerge from the Natural Epicurean with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to uphold high standards for food quality and cookery and to help solve the practical problems that are at the heart of our society’s healthcare crisis.

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Campus Director at our Austin campus.

About the Position:

The Campus Director is at the helm of day-to-day operations at the Natural Epicurean, motivating and supporting 20+ faculty and staff to educate and engage 60-80 professional culinary students. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader in the sustainable food movement to foster a learning environment where instructors impart theoretical, scientific and practical knowledge about how and why to prepare health-supportive foods to the next generation of culinary professionals, who will then go onto transform the food industry from within.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an instructional leader & talent developer to 20+ faculty and staff & 60-80 students; Create and uphold a culture of achievement
  • Foster industry relationships with professionals and institutions in the culinary and health sectors
  • Use data to make leadership decisions and leverage resources through successful human resource administration
  • Manage and document campus logistics; administrative duties include managing the campus calendar, scheduling staff, authorizing purchases, managing campus budget, and overseeing payroll record keeping
  • Collaborate with national staff to continually improve campus systems and expand societal impact
  • Ensure the wellbeing of the community and good standing of the campus; coordinate facility maintenance and ensure compliance with state education regulations and city health code standards
  • Support curriculum development and be able to teach classes, as needed
  • Support and coordinate campus events

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Culinary school diploma/certificate and/or other formal food, diet and/or culinary education; Bachelor’s Required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong cooking and technical skills, including computer skills (MS office, accounting software)
  • Minimum of 7 years culinary or food related experience
  • Professional experience managing teams
  • Proven use of qualitative and quantitative evaluation as a successful management tool
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and flexible environment
  • High degree of familiarity and product knowledge expertise in working in a 100% plant based kitchen preferred
  • Understanding of back-of-house operations, cost controls and inventory practices
  • Previous teaching and/or educational management experience preferred
  • Ability to work various shifts including some evenings and weekends
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Energy, creativity, initiative and entrepreneurial zeal
