Fire Suppression Water Use in the Austin Water Utility

Every year, all water utilities in Texas are required to file a "Water Loss" report with the state.  According to the 2010 report for Austin Water Utility, an estimated 2.5 million gallons a year was used for Fire Suppression, compared to 44.7 billion gallons of total use.  In other words, fire suppression used less than 0.01% of all the water in the system.

So much for Shade's "Dry and Dangerous" commercial alleging fire danger if WTP#4 is not built.

For those interested, I have attached the 2010 Water Loss report.  See pages 1 and 6.
