Wishbone Bridge & Unity Underpass Ribbon Cutting Celebration
February 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Join a community celebration marking the official opening of the Wishbone Bridge and Unity Underpass, a major milestone for the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail on Saturday, February 7.
The event begins at 10 a.m. with remarks from elected officials and City of Austin staff, followed by a community gathering at 11 a.m. for Austinites to explore the new bridge, underpass, and trail connections.
Funded by the 2020 Mobility Bond and shaped by community input, the wishbone-shaped bridge fills a long-standing gap in the Butler Trail and provides a safe, scenic route on the east side of the lake. The project also features the Unity Underpass, which includes public art by Reginald Adams, created with contributions from more than 200 community members.
Together, these new additions enhance mobility, safety, and access to nature while celebrating Austin’s commitment to active transportation and vibrant public spaces.
All are welcome to attend, explore, and be part of this exciting new chapter for our city.
There are three entrances to the Wishbone Bridge:
- South of Longhorn Dam (entrance to the Unity Underpass)
- North of Longhorn Dam at the end of Canterbury St.
- North of the Longhorn Dam at the end of the old Holly peninsula
Parking is available at Krieg Field.
