Sylvia Pope from the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department is leading a 1 mile hike that highlights how the requirements of the Comprehensive Watersheds Ordinance protect Austin’s creeks. Hikers will see creek buffers, Critical Environmental Features and look at a recent vegetation restoration project along Bull Creek. The trail is flat but the hike will involve wading in the creek, some moderately strenuous rock ledges to navigate and slippery ground. The trail is family friendly and children are welcome but the content will be at an adult level.
What to bring? Water, sunscreen and a hat. There is poison ivy along parts of the trail so participants may want to wear long sleeves and long pants. Shoes that can be submerged in water are strongly recommended.
