About the Universal Recycling Ordinance

Austin’s Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO) requires food-permitted businesses to provide on-site access to organics diversion as well as minimum recycling standards for all multifamily and commercial properties. The URO is intended to increase the life of local landfills, reduce harmful environmental impacts, and encourage economic development.
