SXSW Eco is proud to partner with Sustainable America to help achieve a zero-waste event, with almost all food waste captured, composted, and returned for use in city parks and gardens. We will work together at the Austin Convention Center and satellite venues on education, outreach, and waste diversion.

Sustainable America is an environmental non-profit focused on the intersection of food and fuel, and works to make both systems more sustainable. They hope to reduce national oil consumption by 50% and increase food availability by 50% over the next two decades. Part of that mission is accomplished through public awareness campaigns, and investments in innovative companies developing new ways to improve sustainability.

Thanks to Green Mountain Energy Company, SXSW Eco attendees can travel with a greener footprint! For the third year in a row, Green Mountain is supporting SXSW Eco by providing carbon offsets to help balance out the carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions created by the event attendees’ estimated travel.

Given SXSW Eco’s focus on finding solutions for a sustainable world, Green Mountain is a perfect partner to help green the conference. The company was founded in 1997 with the mission “to change the way power is made” and began its relationship with SXSW Eco in 2011 during the inaugural conference. Green Mountain is the nation’s longest serving renewable energy retailer and offers consumers and businesses the choice of cleaner electricity products from renewable sources, as well as a variety of carbon offset products and sustainable solutions for businesses.
