From the Sustainable Food Center –
Join Tye Lewis, owner of Tye Cooks Austin, and learn how to make perfect dumplings from scratch!
Dumplings can be filled with almost anything, and this class will focus on traditional flavors with a local, seasonal twist. Class participants will learn step-by-step how to make dumplings, and leave feeling inspired to make them at home. Tye will demonstrate both meat-based and vegetarian fillings, and you will make dumpling dough to take home with you. She will also show you three basic ways dumplings can be cooked: fried, steamed and boiled – and how to complete the presentation with a dipping sauce and a side dish!
Two local wines (a red and a white) will be served with the dumplings.
Segments of this class will be hands-on, and everyone will get to eat what they make (but it might not be a complete meal). Please bring a medium-size zip-top bag or container to pack up your dough.
Classes are for adults. Youth ages 12 and up may attend with purchase of an additional ticket and close parent/guardian supervision during class.
Registration closes two business days before class. All attendees must purchase tickets to attend. No walk-ins allowed.
