Permablitz at Eastside Memorial High School!

November 14 @ 11:50 am

We're at it again! This May 10-11th please join us at Eastside Memorial High School to help us teach the students there how to build a perennial food garden and learn how to do so yourself. This will be the first high school we have blitzed at and we are very excited about it!

We will be creating multiple berm and swale systems to catch rain water from the roof as well as a keyhole garden bed designed by the students. These will both all be planted with native and cultivated fruit and nut trees, nitrogen fixing farmer's trees, perennial herbs, fruits and veggies, summer cover crops, and a drip irrigation system.

Schedule will run as follows (subject to change):

Saturday, May 10:
8:30-9am: Breakfast
9-10am: Site layout and permaculture design lesson
10am-12:30pm: Diggin!
12:30-1:30pm: Lunch
1:30pm-5pm: More work!

Sunday, May 11:

8:30-9am: Breakfast
9-10am: Lesson on native plants and drip irrigation
10am-12:30pm: Planting!
12:30-1:30pm: Lunch
1:30-5pm: Planting and laying drip irrigation

Please bring a $20 donation so we can keep these events monetarily sustainable. As always breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. Be sure to bring with you your own utensils to cut down on waste, a canteen for water, sun protection, your favorite tools (please mark them!), a pen, notebook, a willingness to learn and work together, and an open mind!

We look forward to yet another one of these transformational events and hope you will join us in the spread of permaculture design and practice! Please invite your friends and feel free to share the flyer below.
