As 2009 draws to a close, we’d like to express our appreciation for all you do for our community and for your interest in Liveable City’s work to build a shared, sustainable future for Austin.

This year has challenged our community to develop new ideas and a willingness to work together to build a future that includes everyone. On issues such as our new comprehensive plan, transportation, education and incentive policies, Liveable City has stepped up to provide the research, policy development and advocacy to make a difference. While Liveable City’s recent work on financial incentives has moved our community forward, public actions in other areas continue to underscore
the need for better decision-making that is grounded in solid research and that benefits all Austinites.

But we can’t live by work alone! That’s why we hope you’ll join us for our annual Holiday Party on Monday, December 7th, from 5:30-8pm at the new El Sol y La Luna, 6th & Red River. This will be a fun opportunity to catch up with friends while enjoying great food, a cash bar, and a festive silent auction of special gifts to make life more livable. Auction items include dinners for two from your favorite restaurants, tickets for special events, books, gift baskets and even a 5-day stay for two in an estate overlooking the city of Guanajuato with breathtaking views of the mountains, donated by Nilda De La Llata of El Sol y La Luna.

Between munching and visiting this holiday season, don’t forget to renew your Liveable City membership. Your generous tax-deductible contribution will support upcoming studies and new initiatives to help make Austin livable for everyone.
