In an emergency, who do you want making medical decisions for you? Your people… or the state? The Kicking the Bucket Listening Club is a free 8-week community gathering that uses storytelling, humor, and conversation to explore the questions we’ll all face as we age. Join your neighbors to listen, weave, laugh, and talk about caregiving, healthcare choices, independence, legacy, planning ahead, and how we want to live.
A BOOK CLUB FOR YOUR EARS
Kicking the Bucket is a funny, heartfelt audio dramedy about two ride-or-die octogenarians determined to exit life on their own terms before their kids can say “nursing home.” Each week, we’ll listen to a chapter of the ongoing story together. No prep required – and if you drop in mid-series, we’ll catch you up.
CRAFT WHILE YOU CONVERSE
Want to keep your hands busy while you listen? Bring a craft or try your hand at basket weaving with artist Melissa Knight of Batik by Design. Materials provided. Basket weaving is totally optional.
DIGGING DEEP
Occupational Therapists and Certified End-of-Life Doulas Michelle McCarty and Melissa Saffron of ReInventing Independence guide a conversation inspired by the story each week. Expect thoughtful conversation, practical tools, and resources around aging, caregiving, medical decision-making, memory loss, independence, legacy, and planning ahead.
