Topic:

How will The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 affect the diverse Central Texas population?

This measure could transition America into a clean energy economy. We will be asking a panel of local experts to share how diverse populations in Central Texas will be impacted by new “green for all” initiatives?

Some of the questions to be asked include:

– Which populations are going to fill “green collar jobs?”
– Are green jobs gender inclusive?
– Who’s buying “organic food” – the well-to-to yummy mummy set, or lower-income brackets?
– What kinds of activities are going on in Austin to bridge the “green divide?”

Panel Speakers:

Susain Leibrock, Community Relations Director
Sustainable Food Center

Sunshine Mathon, Design and Development Director
Foundation Communities

Hector Aguilar, Professor and Chairman of Electronics & Advanced Technologies
Austin Community College
