Grains for Grounds Fest: The Austin Climate Week Wrap Party 🍻🌱
After a massive week of action, it’s time to celebrate the hands that did the work! Join us at Fast Friends Beer Company—our veteran-owned community partner—for a day of volunteer appreciation, living soil, and big climate energy.
The Local Loop in Motion: We’re pulling back the curtain on the “Grains for Grounds” cycle. We are proud to highlight that 100% of the soil amendments for our Collective Compost are sourced from women contributors. You’ll get to meet the partners who fuel our living soil, including:
-
Spent Brewery Grains: Donated by the female brewer at Fast Friends.
-
Spent Mycelium Blocks: Provided by Cap City Shrooms.
-
Equine Manure Amendments: Sourced from Heart Stone Ranch, a local female-owned equine therapy ranch.
-
Coffee Grounds: Collected from our Grains for Grounds program, fueled by local female-owned coffee shops.
-
Carbon-Sequestering Mulch: Sustainably sourced wood chips and mulch from Good Morning Tree Service.
What’s Happening:
-
The Main Event: Watch the BE Wild Women in action as they lead a live Mini Meadow Installation Celebration right on-site. This is how we plant for the future—together!
-
Eco-Partner Row: Tabling and demonstrations by our other local Eco Partners, Ex: Austin Batworks on-site with a live Bat Box demolition demonstration and their signature bat-themed gear.
-
Hands-on STEM: We’ve got soil-based STEM activities for the kids and native plant info + living soil kits for all ages.
-
Cards for Community: Stop by our greeting card station to help create Community Connection. Send a nature-themed note to a loved one, or write a personalized message for us to deliver to our local nursing homes and elders.
Drink Green, Eat Well: Fast Friends is a champion of sustainable waste practices and a vital part of our compost collective. Every pint you enjoy supports a business that chooses green waste methods and hospitable, community-first decisions.
Whether you volunteered with us this week or just want to see what the Mini Meadow Movement is all about, come grab a beer, get your hands in some dirt, and help us close out Climate Week the right way.
Let’s grow the future. We’ll see you there.
