Who We Are:

We are the oldest grassroots environmental organization in Texas. We believe our open spaces, clean water, and natural resources should be protected so that current and future generations may enjoy them. In addition to our state chapter office in Austin, we are blessed with several regional groups in Texas that provide wonderful opportunities to explore, enjoy, and protect the state’s natural wonders.

What does it look like to turn community power into real policy impact?

Join the Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter and our partners for a one-of-a-kind, hands-on advocacy experience this ATX Climate Week! From Community to Capitol: An Advocacy Experience is designed as an accessible, welcoming on-ramp into advocacy – blending art, community, and real-world civic action into a single, powerful experience.

Bring your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues – we all belong in the spaces decisions are made!

The day will begin on the Capitol Grounds for a picnic (light refreshments and snacks provided!) and art activation. You can expect:

    • A collaborative art and sign-making station (with plenty of activities for young advocates as well)

    • Short, engaging introductions to climate advocacy in Texas

    • To learn more about local advocacy groups and frontline organizations fighting for Texas communities

Afterwards, inside the Capitol, you’ll experience a guided introduction to how policy works in Texas:

    • Learn where key decisions happen

    • Understand how to participate in hearings and submit public comment

    • Practice advocacy in a low-pressure, supportive environment

Whether you’re brand new to advocacy or looking to deepen your impact, this experience is designed to meet you where you are, and move us forward, together. This is what is looks like to build people power for positive change. With your help, we can do even more!

Come build community, make some art, and step into your power with us on Saturday, April 25!
