Forest Restoration on the Vireo Preserve
July 19 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us to restore forest habitat on the Vireo Preserve, part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (BCP), which is home to rare and endangered plants and animals. Tasks vary and, depending on the workday and season, may include watering, planting, seeding, removing invasives, mulching, and building soil.
This workday will involve walking over uneven surfaces, using digging tools, and carrying watering cans or other materials. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring drinking water and work gloves, if you have a pair (we’ll have extras).
Due to the tasks, nature of the terrain, and lack of amenities, these workdays are generally best suited to older youth and adults. There is no running water on site, and pets and smoking are not permitted. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
You can register to volunteer here.
