TxETRA’s Tom “Smitty” Smith speaks on the current status of electric vehicles, their future in Texas, and necessary legislation.

The Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (TxETRA) is promoting the Electric Transportation Act in the Texas legislature. The Act will support the building of EV charging stations across Texas, institute policies to make Texas the destination for EV manufacturing, increase the use of zero emission vehicles, and in several other ways develop a framework for the electrification of transportation in Texas.

Tom “Smitty” Smith is a long-time advocate for clean air and sustainable systems. He is currently the executive Director of TxETRA, an Alliance of vehicle manufacturers, dealers, utilities, environmentalists and consumer groups, that are working together to develop and promote the policies needed to electrify the Texas transportation system.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby works for national legislation that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, specifically the policy known as carbon fee and dividend. Organizations like TxETRA that advocate for policies and technologies that lead to reduced carbon emissions are natural allies.
