Join us as we meet and create with artist Scott Rolfe. He will lead participants through making a found object magnet using the art form of assemblage. An assemblage can be created with whatever materials catch the artist’s eye or hold meaning for the artist. It’s a perfect match for Austin Creative Reuse! Scott invites participants to bring any small objects they might like to use in their composition.
Rolfe looks for possibilities in the discarded: broken household appliances, rusty metal, forgotten toys. By combining, rearranging, and altering these objects, they come to life with their own unique personalities. His subjects range from eccentric animals to complex shadow box constructions that harken back to the early twentieth century.
Scott is a Maine-born artist who has lived in Austin, Texas for over 20 years. He works in various media, primarily focusing on assemblage, in which found objects are recycled and repurposed into new artworks. Learn more about Scott and his art at http://srolfe.com/
Austin Creative Reuse presents this workshop as second in a series of artist led workshops focused on creating art using reclaimed materials.
