It’s a big election year here in Austin, with five City Council seats and the mayor’s race on the ballot. In this guide, we’re going to cover the basics of the District 5 City Council election. District 5 is located in south Austin. You can figure out which Council district you live in here

 

District 5 is one of three Council races this year where there is no incumbent running. Council Member Ann Kitchen (who has represented District 5 for the past eight years) is leaving at the end of 2022 after serving two terms in office.
