It’s a big election year here in Austin, with five City Council seats and the mayor’s race on the ballot. In this guide, we’re going to cover the basics of the District 3 City Council election. District 3 is located in south/east Austin (and includes East Cesar Chavez and parts of South First and South Congress). You can figure out which Council district you live in here

 

District 3 is one of three Council races this year where there is no incumbent running. Council Member Sabino “Pio” Renteria (who has represented District 3 for the past eight years) is leaving at the end of 2022 after serving two terms in office.
