The Travis County Audubon Society is hosting Purple Martin watch parties. [Birding] The Purple Martins are back, which can only mean one thing – it's time for some bird parties. Each summer thousands of these beautiful birds roost near the Highland Mall before they begin their migration. In celebration of such an amazing event, Travis Audubon will be hosting watch parties in the Highland Mall parking lot on Friday and Saturday nights for the next several weeks.  Learn more>>


TreeFolks is hosting a tree pruning class for homeowners.[Workshop] Saturday, July 12th from 8:30am – 11am TreeFolks is hosting, "Structural Pruning: A Practical Workshop for Homeowners and Professionals." This hands-on class will teach participants how to avoid the structural problems associated with mature trees by properly pruning trees when they are still young.  More info >>

Saturday, July 12 at 11am with Water on the Home Front, a free event hosted by TreeHouse and the Clean Water Fund. David Foster, state director of the Clean Water Fund will be there to talk about the big-picture trends in Texas and to offer solutions to looming drought problems, including steps that individual homeowners can take.  More info >>

Yard to Market Coop is looking for new members.[Class] Learn how to sell your backyard eggs to the market on Saturday July 12 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm with the Yard to Market Co-op.

Founded in 2013 by a group of gardeners looking to grow the local food economy, the co-op allows members to sell their own homegrown food to others looking to eat local. This information session will take place at the North Village Branch of the Austin Public Library and will include specifics about how to sell your goods to an Austin farmers market.  More info >>


Imagine One Austin will be held on July 7th from 6pm to 8pm.[Information Series] Monday, July 7 from 5:30pm to 9pm is  the next Imagine One Austin information series and the topic of discussion will be the economy.

Kevin Johns, the City of Austin's director of economic development, and Gary Farmer, the chair of Opportunity Austin, will be there to speak, along with several other notables in the world of economics. This two hour mini-class (6-8pm) and the optional expo (8-9pm) is free and will be held at the LCRA Dalchau Service Center on Montopolis Drive. Formula Sun July 19th[Solar Car Races] Saturday July 19th is the Formula Sun Grand Prix powered by Austin Energy out at Circuit of the Americas. From 8:30am – 5pm the public is invited to view 23 student teams from around the world racing solar-powered electric vehicles that they designed and built, in this unique engineering competition powered solely by the sun.

The paddock and garages will be open to the public and guests can enjoy a variety of solar-powered activities such as radio controlled solar car racing, a children’s solar model car building workshop and solar technology exhibits. Learn more >>
