Conference Objectives

Educational

With the purpose to encourage the use of bicycles in a safer street environment, VeloTexas is a technical conference designed to gather communities, bicyclists, planners, engineers, researchers, public agencies, and those interested in improving safety of bicyclists. VeloTexas has the objective to encourage the use of bicycles on streets by promoting: Better understanding of laws and regulations, Improvement of infrastructure planning and design, Efficient operation and maintenance of bicycle routes, and Safer practices in the use of bicycles and use of motor vehicles.

Research

Development of safer street environments requires better understanding of: bicyclists, interaction of bicyclists with other motor vehicle drivers, infrastructure needs, and rule and regulations. VeloTexas aims to develop tools that will assist in understanding these elements and provide strategies that will make streets safer for bicyclists.

VeloTexas Partners

VeloTexas is a partnership of public agencies, consultants, private entities, the bicyclist communities and all of those interested in having safer streets for bicyclists. We thank the City of Austin, UT Center for Transportation Research, UT Parking and Transportation Services, and Regions Bank for supporting our effort in making our communities more enjoyable and safer.
