Digest 8/13: On the road with Alejandro Escovedo, pt. 2

I haven't had much time to eco-blog since leaving Austin on a 10 week tour with Alejandro Escovedo (mid May). In addition to learning how to play drums again (and music again), i've been happily travelin' with these fellas, up and down the East Coast, the UK, the Spain, the Italy, and the France, among other places. I'll admit it's been great. These blogs talk about some light and dark epiphanies i've recently had, on the road:

In Praise of Italia
My whole life i've searched for meaning (not kidding), and guess what? I think i found it in the relaxed, stand-up cafe table centric culture of Italy. Our European tour kept us moving for 5 weeks across 5 countries. This blog highlights some of what it's like to live outside the world's most money-grubbing-ist nation (our very own USA) for a while. . . It's Nice! Read my full post here.

5 Most Interesting Things About the World's Biggest Problem
This is my best writing to date. After a long break from blogging, several things came together at once to motivate this piece, such as the leader of the "Stop Global Warming Movement" admitting in a Rolling Stone magazine feature, "we're losing the fight, badly and quickly," and my trying to explain climate change to our guitarist. ("What's the upside?" he kept saying.) I humbly and sincerely recommend this one. Read full post here.
