Sierra Club Program ONLINE: The Data Guy

Our monthly Austin Sierra Club meeting will be online via Zoom.

We’ll start off with Announcements on current events… Tonite’s main program is The Data Guy – He’s Got the Numbers, with Jay Blazek Crossley.

Is Austin ready for an actual sustainable, equitable future? Land use, transportation, planning, and equity reforms that we can’t afford to pass up. Jay Blazek Crossley, Executive Director of Farm&City.org, dedicated to high quality urban & rural human habitat in Texas, seeks to improve Texas public policy at the intersection of transportation, urban planning, sustainability, and equity. Farm&City’s two big projects are leading Vision Zero Texas – the movement to end traffic deaths in Texas – and 50 Million Texans, which includes work on land use reform, equitable, sustainable regional growth strategies, state transportation policy reform, carbon reduction, and transportation equity.

Jay grew up in Houston, has a Masters in Public Affairs from the LBJ School at UT-Austin. He currently serves as Chair of Safe Streets Austin and on the Capital Area Regional Transit Coordination Committee. He has previously served on the board of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA), the Texas Strategic Highway Safety Plan Stakeholder group, Capital Metro’s Project Connect Advisory Network, the TXDOT Council on System Safety – external stakeholder group, and as Chair of the City of Austin Pedestrian Advisory Council.
