Austin Resource Recovery presents Fix-It at Home!, a FREE interactive, online workshop series aimed at teaching Austinites repair and maintenance skills from home. Classes range from learning sewing basics and ‘patching’ up clothes, to fixing recreational equipment and household appliances.
This class is for anyone wanting to learn how to alter clothing to fit well. Our instructor will demonstrate how to hem and take in clothing, each followed by practice time for the participants. Feel free to bring pants or a skirt that need hemming, or a shirt that’s too large, to practice on!
This class is for anyone with a sewing machine who wants to learn how to patch and hem clothing. Learn how to make your pants or skirt fit well, with ease. If you don’t have a sewing machine, there will be a couple of non-sewing techniques to learn from as well.
Meet the Instructor! Logan Kramer is a home sewer focused on apparel sewing whose sewing education began 10 years ago when she wanted to upcycle and alter clothes. Her favorite recent sewing projects include jerseys for UT Austin’s robot soccer team and alterations for the Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company.
