Update – As of Sunday, March 5th, in.gredients hit its crowdfunding goal.
The crowdfunding campaign to save Austin’s only zero-waste grocery store, in.gredients, is coming to a close and they still need your help. As a zero-waste grocery store, in.gredients has a true dedication to reducing the amount of trash Americans throw away. Throughout their entire business, they only throw out about 5 pounds of trash each month. That’s nearly the same amount as the average American throws out each day!
But right now, the future of the store hangs in the balance. Last year was their best yet, but property taxes also doubled in that same period. “Combined with a number of other economic factors at year end,” in.gredients explained in an email, “they were met with a choice: cash in the last of their savings to shutdown, or risk staying open long enough to turn the corner. ”
In the end, they decided to go all in and launched an Indiegogo campaign with the goal of raising $30,000. So far, they’ve raised about 40 percent of their goal. The campaign will close at midnight on Sunday, March 5th. You can donate here>>
To celebrate the final push in their campaign, in.gredients is hosting a “Grand Finale Block Party” on Friday, March 3rd from 5pm to 9pm. This free event will feature live music, a Hops & Grain tap takeover, and tons of great thank-you gifts for anyone who donates. More info>>
