22 Dec Happy Holidays – Best Wishes – Please Plan Ahead Now for Local Food Potluck on Sun., Jan. 9th
Happy…Hanukkah,..Eclipse,..Solstice,..Christmas,..New Year, ………is it over, yet?
Yes, the Holidays are soon over, but hopefully pleasant memories are long-lasting,…that you’ll be rested/recharged, and that you’ll be ready to get ready for a super start for Spring. Gifts and Resolutions count triple in 2011 – once for the New Year, once for the New Decade, and a big once more for the Planet and Environment that need our help.
To start the year and decade off right, and to cheer on some great folks who have recently made their commitment to live more sustainably, more cooperatively, more caringly, and more nutritionally…………..please mark your calendar now:
-Local Food Pot-Luck & Graduantion Ceremony for the
Fall 2010 Citizen Gardener and Permaculture Grads.
-Sunday, Jauary 9th from 6 – 9 PM
at the
Workers’ Defense Project – 5604 Manor Rd, 78723
Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this wonderful celebration of Local Food. Previous events have had raves about the great food – prepared with love and [at least some] local ingredients – and about the great folks and the great time that was had. So please mark your calendars, help to spread the word to Family, Friends, Gardeners, Farmers (esp. to your favorite Farmer), and Foodies, Slow and Fast. Help us to celebrate Local Food and honor those that produce it for us. Thank you.
Only a few simple requests – no rules:
-Mark your calendar now and gather a group of friends,
-Please start now planning the delectable dish (main, side, salad, dessert
for 6-8 servings) and the ingredients – from your garden or Farmers’ Markets.
-Bring your choice of beverage to imbibe & share – all TX wine is “local”
-(If easy – your own plate, cup, glass, utensils. If not, we’ll cover you.)
We need volunteers for the set-up/serving/wrap-up. If you can, please pick a 1-2 hour block from 5- 10 pm and email DickPierceDesigns@gmail.com
This will be a great party, super food, great company and conversation. It also is a reminder of how quickly our C-TX planting season comes upon us – January 15 for Onions and, coincidentally, January 15 is the 1st day of the 1st class of the Spring 2011 Citizen Gardener Courses. A great present to yourself, a friend/family member – see citizengardener.grouply.com.
Happy Holidays to all – Best Wishes for wonderful, relaxing times with family and friends. Please join us on Sunday, January 9th – we’re the Local Food family
If you’d like to give one more gift this season and enjoy doing it – the link below is a very short video of Dick Peterson, our local rain/water guru and now a Citizen Gardener and CG Teacher, and his Grandson, Joel, at the recent Nissan Leaf Electric Car demo. If you watch/listen and like it – please vote for them (upper right corner; I missed it) and pass the link around to friends. It’s fun and a nice thing to do. Thanks – they should win
