27 Feb SpinFish + SXSW = Waste Diversion + Goods for Austin individuals & groups

SpinFish is a waste diversion and rescue service specializing in diverting event leftovers from the landfill.  After a successful diversion effort at SXSW Eco, SpinFish Events Solutions and SXSW are partnering once again.  At SXSW Eco, SpinFish diverted OVER 1,200 pounds of event waste from the landfill.  An expanded program at the 2014 SXSW tradeshow is anticipated to divert more than 10,000 pounds of event waste with the potential to benefit over a thousand local community members.  

Spinfish and Austin EcoNetwork are teaming up to identify individuals/artists/organizations/etc that are interested in receiving event leftovers. Current anticipated items include:

• cardboard (large sheets, boxes, tubes)
• vinyl banners
• foam core
• promotional hand outs (tchotchkes)
• wood pallets

They will have a better idea of items and quantities in the coming weeks as they reach out to exhibitors

On March 12th they will be contacting those who have expressed interest and scheduling reliable pick ups.

You can also be a Volunteer!  Help organize the leftovers for cool Austin groups (and even get priority in picking stuff for you/your group!) Shifts are 3 hours during the timeframs of 8:00am – 8:00pm between March 12th-14th.
