18 Feb Eco-Endorsements for Party Primary Elections
To help inform your voting Austin EcoNetwork compiles a list of endorsements by local environmental organizations and major publications.
Early voting for the March 4th joint primaries starts tomorrow and runs from February 18th-28th. You can download the ballots here.
In the race for County Judge (which is not a judge position, it's more like Mayor of the County):
- Sarah Eckhardt was endorsed by the Sierra Club as well as both the Austin American Statesman and the Austin Chronicle.
- Andy Brown was endorsed by the Austin Environmental Democrats and Texas League of Conservation Voters-PAC.
In the race for Travis County Commissioner Precinct 2:
- Brigid Shea pretty much swept the environmental and newspaper publications earning support from the Austin Chapter of the Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, and Texas League of Conservation Voters-PAC, as well as the Austin American Statesman and Austin Chronicle
- Richard Jung received the most votes, but not at endorsement level, from Austin Environmental Democrats.
- Garry Brown, while knowledgeable about environmental issues from his time working on Commissioner Karen Huber's staff, did not get any eco-group endorsements.

In the race for Travis County Commissioner Precinct 4:
- Margaret Gomez, was endorsed by the Austin American Statesman.
- Darla Wegner is not endorsed by any groups.
Note: Chronicle wrote a non-endorsement. There is a rumor that a third-party candidate may run in the general election.

Voter turnout in primaries is unfortunately very low. Go volunteer for your favorite candidates. Your help in these final stretches really makes a difference!
Reminder that Early Voting takes place from February 18th-28th and Election Day is March 4th.
You can vote at any polling location – look for the VOTE HERE/AQUI sign and choose the location most convenient to you and remember to bring your ID.
