Please join us for this week's program as we discuss the future governance of Austin Energy. A proposal by City Council to turn over the decision making process to an unelected board is under much fire from the public wanting to keep the democratic process available to the public regarding this $4 billion, tax payer owned entity.
Our guests will be Mike Sloan of Virtus Energy Research, Lanny Sinkin, Executive Director of Solar San Antonio and Jere Locke, local Austin activist leading the fight against Austin Energy's hand over.
Mike Sloan has consulted exclusively on renewable energy issues for 20 years. Sloan leads the Virtus Energy team through ideas and expert analysis to educate policy makers and businesses on the benefits of renewable energy.
Lanny Sinkin co-founded Citizens Concerned About Nuclear Power and represented citizens in the licensing hearings for the South Texas Nuclear Projects, Units 1 and 2.
Jere Locke currently works with the Texas Drought Project which makes the connection between climate change and the present Texas Drought, but on the issue of Austin Energy, since early March he has worked with a coalition of individuals and organizations to stop the Austin City Council's move to install an un-elected board. Before getting involved with Austin Energy he volunteered with the 10-1 redistricting effort.
