Bat Conservation International is hosting a bat house building event on Saturday.

[Bat Celebration] Saturday, October 31st from 11am to 2pm Bat Conservation International is hosting a bat house building event at the Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Viewing Area. The event is part of a nationwide world record-breaking attempt to build the most bat houses in one day. Attendees will be able to build a bat house of their very own, as well as learn from bat experts and meet with some live bats! More info>>

[Gardening Class] Saturday, October 31st at noon Brite Ideas is hosting a free gardening class in honor of Halloween called,“Spooky Food,” at their store on South Congress Avenue. Students will learn all about the negative consequences of conventionally grown food, as well as the benefits of having a home garden of their very own. More info>>


The First Unitarian Universalist Church is hosting a talk on renewable energy.[Energy Talk] Sunday, November 1st at noon the First Unitarian Universalist Church is hosting another installment of its Public Affairs Forum. The guest speaker will be Reverend Lou Snead, who will be giving a talk entitled, “A Public Utility Goes Green: The Economics of Renewable Energy Options.” He’ll be discussing Georgetown‘s recent decision to switch to 100 percent renewable energy, sharing the story of how economics, expanding renewable energy markets, and community environmental activism all played a part in the making of a green public utility. More info>> 


The Sierra Club's Environmental Justice Team is meeting on Monday.

[Environmental Justice Meeting] Monday, November 2nd from 6:30pm to 8:15pm the Sierra Club’s Environmental Justice Team is meeting at the Sierra Club’s annex office on West 13th Street. The Young Sierrans are having their monthly happy hour on Monday.[Happy Hour] Monday, November 2nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm the Young Sierrans are having their monthly happy hour at the Waller Creek Boathouse.  Young Sierrans is a group of Sierra Club folks between the ages of 21 and 39.
