[Festival] Saturday, October 24th from 10am to 2pm the Compost Coalition is hosting a Recycle Fair at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center. The day will be filled with composting and recycling demonstrations from local experts. More info>>

[Film Screening] Saturday, October 24th from 11am to 1:30pm the documentary Cowspiracy is being screened at the Austin History Center. Cowspiracy uncovers the many negative environmental consequences of the meat industry and investigates why nobody seems to be talking about them. The entire event is free and open to the public. More info>>

Austin Beyond Coal is meeting on Saturday.

[Energy Meeting] Saturday, October 24th from noon to 1:30pm the Sierra Club’s Austin Beyond Coal team is having a meeting at the Sierra Club’s offices on San Antonio Street. They will be talking about coal mines, solar expansion, and an upcoming global climate march. All are welcome to attend. More info>>

Brite Ideas is hosting a free organic produce class on Saturday.

[Gardening Class]Saturday, October 24th from noon to 1:30pm Brite Ideas is hosting a free class on organically grown produce. Students will learn how to effectively market and sell their own organic produce, as well as the best ways to grow it. The class will be held at Brite Ideas’ South Congress store. More info>>

[Happy Hour] Tuesday, October 27th from 5:30pm to 8pm Solar Austin is hosting its monthly happy hour at Scholz Garten. A panel of students from several local colleges will be talking about their own innovative campus solar projects. The event is free and open to the public. More info>>

The Shades of Green Learning Series continues on Tuesday.[Environmental Justice Talk] Tuesday, October 27th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm the Shades of Green Learning Series continues with a presentation on how the pipeline from education to employment in the environmental sector can become more racially inclusive. The Shades of Green Learning Series (unaffiliated with the weekly talk radio show) is designed to facilitate discussion about how the predominately white environmental movement in Austin can become more collaborative across differences in race and class.
