[Party] Friday, December 4th at 6pm the Save Our Springs Alliance is having a holiday party at the Charles Johnson House American Legion. The celebration will feature locally made food, amazing music, great people, and a silent auction. The entrance fee is a suggested $10 donation. More info>>


[Cooking Class] Saturday, December 4th from 9:30am to 11:30am the Sustainable Food Center is hosting a “Handmade with Love: Edible Holiday Gifts” class at its headquarters on East 17th Street. Each student will go home with a small batch of the recipes in gift jars to share with friends and family. More info>>

There will be a tour of the new Recycle & Reuse Drop-Off Center on Saturday.

[Recycling Tour] Saturday, December 5th from 11am to 2pm the Compost Coalition is hosting a tour of the city’s new Recycle & Reuse Drop-Off Center. The drop-off center tour will be followed by a trip to the nearby Independence Brewing Co.for a tour of their operations and zero waste efforts as well. More info>>

[Technology Class]Saturday, December 5th at noon Brite Ideas is hosting a class on 3D printing and biotechnology at its store on South Congress Avenue. There will be live 3D printing demonstrations, and kits and printers will be available for purchase. More info>>


There will be a film screening on Monday night.[Film Screening] Monday, December 7th at 8pm Travel+SocialGood Austin is hosting a screening of the documentary, “Chasing Ice,” at Urban Co-Lab. The film chronicles the personal quest by environmental photographer James Balog to capture the effects of climate change. Following the screening Jayant Kairam, with the Environmental Defense Fund, will engage attendees in a conversation on building awareness and dealing with the effects of climate change in their own lives and businesses. More info>>


Solar Austin is having a holiday party on Tuesday.

[Party] Tuesday, December 8th from 6pm to 9pm Solar Austin is having its holiday party at the Brick Oven on Red River Street. There will be music, drinks, and appetizers, along with an award ceremony to honor the biggest Solar Movers and Shakers of 2015. More info>>

The [Re]Verse Pitch Competition is on Wednesday.

[Competition] Wednesday, December 9th from 6pm to 8:30pm the City of Austin is hosting the final round of the[Re]Verse Pitch Competition at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Finalists will compete for a $10,000 prize to start their own social enterprise out of the waste from other local businesses. The event is free and open to the public. More info>>

Dr. Antwi Akom is speaking in Austin on Wednesday.[Environmental Justice Talk] Wednesday, December 9th from 7pm to 8:45pm the City of Austin’s Imagine Austin Speaker Seriescontinues with a talk from Dr. Antwi Akom, co-founder of the Institute for Sustainable Economic, Educational, and Environmental Design (I-SEEED), which focuses on building sustainable cities and schools. His talk is entitled, “Eco-Apartheid and Giving Voice to the Voiceless,” and will focus on ways to increase community participation in economically disadvantaged communities. More info>>
