[Reuse Clinic] Saturday, January 9th from noon to 3pm Austin Resource Recovery is hosting a FixIt Clinic for fabric and clothing at Recycled Reads on Burnet Road. The clinic will have expert volunteers and sewing machines on hand to show you how to mend your favorite pair of jeans or old t-shirt. The entire event is free and open to the public. More info>>

[Aquaponics Class] Saturday, January 9th at noon Brite Ideas is hosting a free “Aquaponics Rhythms” class at its store on South Congress Avenue. The class will help students to understand what the full life cycle of each component in an aquaponics system does and how these pieces interact in a symphony, which makes the system self-sufficient and simple to maintain. [Policy Talk] Sunday, January 10th from noon to 1pm the First Unitarian Universalist Church is hosting a talk by Austin City Council Member Leslie Pool (District 7). Council Member Pool chairs the city’s Open Space, Environment & Sustainability Committee and has worked on several major environmental policy initiatives during her time in City Hall. She’ll be talking about all of this, as well as her ideas for a healthy, sustainable, and affordable Austin during her talk on Sunday. More info>>

[Population Talk] Sunday, January 10th from 1pm to 3pm the Wildflower Unitarian Universalist Church is hosting a talk from John Seager, Population Connection’s President and CEO. Population Connection is a grassroots organization that focuses on achieving global population stabilization through universal awareness and access to voluntary family planning. Seager’s presentation will address global population growth, its causes and impacts, and how the world can meet those challenges. [Climate Talk] Monday, January 11th from6:30pm to 8:30pm the Faith & Energy Action Team (FEAT) is hosting its first meeting of the year and the topic of discussion will be the UN Climate Agreement recently signed in Paris. Guest speakers will include Brandi Clark Burton from the Mayor’s Office and Jere Locke from the Texas Drought Project. More info>>

[Public Meeting] Tuesday, January 12th from 6pm to 8pm the CodeNEXT Code Advisory Group is having a public meeting at Town Lake Center on Barton Springs Road. The meeting is designed to solicit public feedback on the city’s rewrite of its land development code, a process dubbed CodeNEXT. This is your chance to let the city know about your concerns, desires, and ideas for the future look and feel of your neighborhood. More info>>
